چکیده

In the core of a high-capacity network, service differentiation may still be needed to support applications’ utilization of the network. Applications with similar traffic characteristics and performance requirements are mapped into Diffserv service classes based on endto-end behavior requirements of the applications. However, some network segments may be configured in such a way that a single forwarding treatment may satisfy the traffic characteristics and performance requirements of two or more service classes. In these cases, it may be desirable to aggregate two or more Diffserv service classes into a single forwarding treatment. This document provides guidelines for the aggregation of Diffserv service classes into forwarding treatments. Chan, et al. RFC 4594 Guidelines for

This document describes service classes configured with Diffserv and recommends how they can be used and how to construct them using Differentiated Services Code Points (DSCPs), traffic conditioners, Per-Hop Behaviors (PHBs), and Active Queue Management (AQM) mechanisms. There is no intrinsic requirement that particular DSCPs, traffic conditioners, PHBs, and AQM be used for a certain service cl...

Differentiated Services: Experiment Report

1 Problem statement The experiments described in this report address the problem of Quality of Service (QoS) support in IP networks. Experiments focus on the Differentiated Services (diffserv) QoS architecture specified in RFC 2475. The Diffserv architecture is based on the idea of classifying IP flows into aggregates and differentiating the service given to the aggregates rather than to flows ...

A Framework for Integrated Services Operation over Diffserv Networks

The Integrated Services (Intserv) architecture provides a means for the delivery of end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) to applications over heterogeneous networks. To support this end-to-end model, the Intserv architecture must be supported over a wide variety of different types of network elements. In this context, a network that supports Differentiated Services (Diffserv) may be viewed as a ...

Proportional Delay Differentiation Employing the CBQ Service Discipline

The DiffServ architecture provides a scalable mechanism for QoS introduction in a TCP/IP network. The idea of DiffServ is based on the aggregation of traffic flows at an ingress (or egress) point of a network and the IP packet marking for different priority flows, according to several classification criteria. Two approaches exist in the DiffServ architecture: the absolute and the relative. In a...
